Computer Learning Courses

Women with computers We are running courses called "Introduction to Computing". The main objective is to promote social inclusion by building confidence and teaching the basic skills of computing. The courses are open to everyone over 55 living within the Bristol boundaries.

Our aim is to pass on enough knowledge to enable our students to communicate with friends and family by email, and to get information from the web. They do not want or need to be experts.

The course consists of five 2-hour sessions at weekly intervals. These cover:
Week 1: Basics of computing
Week 2: Surfing the Web
Week 3: Email basics
Week 4: Word Processing basics
Week 5: Keeping Safe Online

We are relaxed about how much we cover in the classes, it's more important that people can ask questions and try out ideas at their own pace, we provide comprehensive notes for later use.

We make a small charge of £10 for the 5 sessions, which covers the costs of refreshments and printed materials.
